Peachland, British Columbia, Canada - September 17, 2008
FirstWind has received a letter of offer to assist a First Nation in development of potential wind generated power on its Reserve and its traditional territory in Eastern Canada. The overall project is yet to be fully ascertained, however, it is estimated it will be no less than 400 MW when complete.
Work has commenced to establish the necessary agreements and permits to allow for MET tower placement and subsequent full development of potential sites. A unique framework is being developed to maximize the potential for the First Nation to allow this development to achieve a greater form of economic development through their first major project.
Depending upon weather conditions, the MET towers may be placed in the very near future or at the least, in early 2009.
